Still in our first day on vacation in Rome we kept on exploring all the amazing architecture that Rome has to offer until well after the sun went down..
As we continue to explore in Rome we were continually amazed by the fountains and architecture that we would come across as well as the artistic statues that were carved into them. As the day wore on we explored more and more of the city and the amazing architecture because at night fortunately for us Rome is very well lit and there were no areas that we felt unsafe in.
We walked down a small side street looking for a small family owned restaurant to have dinner in. Unfortunately most of the places in Rome that we found seem to be chains that are owned by larger companies. However we found a place that looked as quaint as possible for the area, and stopped for a small dinner complete of course with wine bread and olive oil.
One of the things on my list that I absolutely had to see while in Rome was the location that the famous emperor Julius Caesar was murdered at. The above picture is the ruins of what was the structure where Julius Caesar was murdered. While this location is under restoration by the Italian government there is a large population of stray cats that have made this area their home.
It did take a little work to find the place that Julius Caesar was murdered at as it was not well marked on the maps. It was surprising to us that this location was not more popular with tourists. Mostly because of how important Julius Caesar was in the history of Europe.
According to the information posted at the site the location immediately behind us is the actual spot where emperor Julius Caesar was standing when he was stabbed by a consortium of his closest advisers. With so many pictures from this trip it’s hard to get it all in to just a few posts. Keep an eye out here for updates when I can get them composed as there will be more to come. If you missed the others go and have a look at them here.
